Keywords: Deixis, Main Character, Movie Script Language is very important aspect of human‟s life for communication purposes. In communication people must understand the meaning of language. Radically in communication someone needs to understand the contextual information, situation language, topics, rule and intended use of language. Language and context are two things which cannot be separated each other. Contextual is important for the hearer or addressee to understand what the speaker meaning. Deixis shows the phenomenon where in understanding the meaning of certain words and phrases in utterance requires contextual information. Learning deixis can help the readers in understanding what the speaker mean (utterances) in a conversation that exists in the book, speech script, newspaper or in a conversation directly. Movie script is one of the appropriate objects for analyzing deixis because the conversations in the movie script belong to spoken language. The formulation of research problems are 1) what are the types of deixis used by the main characters in movie script of “Hotel Transylvania 3: summer Vacation”? 2) What is the dominant deixis used by the main characters in movie script of “Hotel Transylvania 3: summer Vacation”? The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to describe and analyze the types of deixis which taken from the script by matching it with the movie, then classifies them according to Yule theory types of deixis. The script is gotten from the internet. Technique of collecting data are; watching the movie for several times in order to understand the whole story, matching the dialogue with the script, collecting the data, identifying the data that contain the types of deixis carried out by the main characters, then finding out the types of deixis carried out by the main characters (person deixis, time deixis, and place deixis). The result of the research shows that there are three types of deixis in movie script of “Hotel Transylvania 3: summer Vacation”, they are person deixis, time deixis and place deixis. The researcher found 180 person deixis, 9 time deixis and 18 place deixis. In this study, person deixis is more dominant than time deixis and place deixis. Due to the fact that deixis is important to indicate impermanent reference, English learner should enrich themselves by understanding the function of deixis, the types of deixis and how deixis are used in a utterance.
