Yunita, Lia Selfia. Registered number Student. 3213113094. 2015. The Effectiveness of Using Video YouTube toward Students’ Speaking Ability at the Second Grade of MTs PSM Mirigambar Tulungagung. Thesis. English Educational Department. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor Nanik Sri Rahayu, M.Pd. Keywords: Effectiveness, The students’ speaking ability, video YouTube. One of the media in globalization era in teaching speaking is video YouTube. Learning English by using YouTube will get a lot of benefits, learn the proper pronunciation of a word in a foreign language and make the material more quickly understandable. Therefore, I believe that the video YouTube could help the students’ improve speaking ability. In this case, the writer tried to know the effectiveness of using Video YouTube in teaching speaking. The formulation of the research problems are: 1) how is the students’ score in speaking before being taught by using video YouTube? 2) How is the students’ score in speaking after being taught by using video YouTube? 3) Is there any significant difference score of the students’ before being taught by using video and after being taught by using video YouTube? The purpose of the study are to: 1) find out the students’ speaking score before being taught by using video YouTube 2) Find out the students’ speaking score after being taught by using video YouTube 3) Find out significant difference score before and after being taught by using video YouTube. Research method: 1) the research design is pre-experimental design using quantitative approach. 2) The population of this study was all students of MTs PSM Mirigambar Tulungagung. 3) The sample was VlllA class consist of 16 students. 4) The research instruments was test (pre-test and post-test). 5) The data analysis of research is T-Test. The research finding in this research is the mean score of speaking before being taught by using video YouTube is enough because the mean score of 16 students is 58.4375. After getting treatment, the mean score of speaking ability is 67.8125 based on the criteria of the students' score is good score it was improved, with the t-test analysis that used by researcher, the result of t Count is by comparing the t Table that she has got in spss 16.0, T Count 6.895 and value of t Table on the score table t 0,01 1.753 , its mean that t Count is much bigger than t Table ( t Count > t Table) = ( 6.895 > 1.753) Based on the result above, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) that states there is significant difference of students’ speaking ability by using video YouTube is accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) that states there is no significant difference of students speaking ability by video YouTube is rejected. It can be concluded that video YouTube is effective media to improve the students’ speaking ability, especially at the second grade of MTs PSM Mirigambar Tulungagung.
