Keywords: News article, Corpus, Verb A grouping of various written or spoken texts. News stories, as one of the text categories, have specific characteristics from any other text in the newspaper, including verb usage, some attributes, such as usage context and text characteristics, and influence. Verbs are used. As a result, different communication strategies may result in varied verb choices. The question that formulated by the researcher is “What are the types and classes of the used verbs in the news report articles?” This study then aims at preliminarily examining the verbs used in news articles in Thai broadcast to classify the classes of verbs that appear in news articles. In order to ensure that the research is suitable for the purpose of the research, this research uses corpus as the only data for analysis. Research methods: 1) The research design of this research is based on corpus research, 2) The data analyzed is a corpus of news articles which were taken from Thai broadcasting website https://edition.cnn.com/specials/asia/thailand-topics, 3) The verbs were categorized according to Levin's (1993) English verb classes utilizing corpus-specialized freewares AntConc and TagAnt to tag part of speech and generate word lists. The result findings, it revealed that 16,301 verbs were used in the newspaper article corpus, and the total token count in the corpus was 98,432 words. In other words, 16.56% of all tokens in the body of newspaper articles were found in the form of verbs. It turns out the study showed that the most verb used was the verbs of sending and carrying. Which The verbs of sending and carrying are themselves involved in causing the entity to change position and describing the causal relationship that accompanies the movement.
