Abstract

Music is one of the popular cultural products in society, including the lute music which is starting to return to existence in the public space. Modernization is one of the main factors influencing the development of Islamic music in Indonesia, especially lute music. The presence of Sabyan Gambus is a form of modernization. Da'wah messages contained in the lyrics of the music of Sabyan Gambus, which are packaged with tone accompaniments that reach the heart of the listener. Da'wah in the modern era is very dependent on millennial preachers. Da'wah through music performed by Sabyan Gambus made the name of Islam even more famous. The purpose of this study is to explain the lute music which is used as a medium of preaching. This study discusses how the process of preaching sabyan gambus through music and how the contradiction of sabyan gambus to the development of Islamic music in Indonesia. The results of this study show that the emergence of Sabyan Gambus has made Islamic adolescents more productive in the world of Islamic music, and also the preaching carried out by Sabyan Gambus has succeeded in getting someone to convert.
