Keywords: correlation, habit in listening English song, translation skill Translation is a process of replacing a textual material from source language (SL) into similar textual material using another target language (TL). A student can translate sentences or a paragraph successfully if he/she equips him/herself with sufficient numbers of vocabularies. The students can develop his/her vocabularies by learning utilizing English song. English songs provide various language inputs, in term of vocabularies. Hence having habit in listening English song enables the students to have various kinds and numbers of vocabularies. This study was directed to verify whether having habit in listening English song has association with having better performance in translation. The formulation of the research problem was “Is there any correlation between students’ habit in listening English songs and their translation skill of English Department at IAIN Tulungagung?”. The study belonged to correlational design with quantitative approach. The population was all 6th semester students translation class of English Department at IAIN Tulungagung in the academic year of 2020/2021 consisting 60 students. The sample of this research was 31 students by using simple random sample technique. The research instruments were questionnaire habit in litening English songs and translating complex sentences test. The data of this research were analyzed by using Spearman-Rho in SPSS 24.0 The result of this research showed that the coefficient correlation was 0,642. It indicated the level of correlation lied on sufficient correlation between students’ habit in listening English songs and their translation skill. It proved by the index value of correlation coefficient at interval 0.600-0.800. In conclusion, it can be stated that there is a positive correlation between students’ habit in listening English songs and their translation skill of English Department Students at IAIN Tulungagung.
