English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute Tulungagung. Advisor: Faizatul Istiqomah, M.Ed Keywords: Teaching speaking, Games, Junior high school. English is a compulsory subject at schools in Indonesia. It is not always an easy subject, because it is a foreign language, without knowing about speaking the students cannot study English well. It means that speaking is very important for the students who are studying English. Using good media will help students to get more English speaking. One of the media is game for teaching English speaking. Games is considered as the one of the most useful and effective way to teach and to learn English speaking. The formulations of this research problem were: 1) What kinds of games are used by the English teacher at MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Kedungwaru Tulungagung? 2) How is the implementation of teaching speaking by using games at MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Kedungwaru Tulungagung? 3) How are student’s responses on the use of games in teaching speaking? The purposes of this study were firstly to identify the kinds of games and to know the implementation of teaching speaking by using games at MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Kedungwaru Tulungagung, and to describe students responses on the use of games in teaching speaking. The research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of the study are one English teacher and nine year students of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari consisting 38 students from IX-A. The instruments used for collecting data are interviews. The collected data are analyzed by using descriptive analysis. The results showed that (1) The games applied in teaching speaking are Guessing game and Role play game (2) Teaching speaking by using games make students got chance the use of oral language (3) By doing the games the opinion of some students about learning to speak using games is good way because it does not make learning become boring, they enjoy learning by using these games in learning English in the classroom. The concept from the start is English fun learning, so the use of games really needs to be used and when using games students are usually more focused and more enthusiastic when learning. Using games is also more interesting because it can train the concentration of the students.
