Technological advances are changing the world. Especially in the world of education, the visible changes are in the uses of information and communication technology in teaching and learning activities. This makes teaching and learning process not only dependent on the classroom but wherever, whenever and however the teaching learning process. It still can be carried out through the use of information and communication technology. Quizizz application is an internet-based learning media that is narrative and flexible. The use of Quizizz as teaching media to create a fun in process teaching and learning but it does not reduce students' understanding of the material and the use of technological developments. The formulation of the research question in this study is "How is students’ score toward grammar before and after being taught using the Quizizz application in the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Sumbergempol?" Based on the formulation of the research question, the purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Quizizz application towards students’ grammar understanding among the eighth graders at SMPN 1 Sumbergempol. This research was conducted using a pre-experimental research design with using a group of pre-test and post-test with a quantitative approach. The populations in this study were all 8th grade students at SMPN 1 Sumbergempol. The sample used in this study was class VIII B consisting of 30 students. The instrument used is a test in the form of multiple choices. The test includes pre-test and post-test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program. Based on the results of the analysis data obtained, the results of the study showed that there is a significant difference in the value of students' understanding of grammar before and before learning to use the Quizizz application. The average score before being taught using the Quizizz app was 63.50. Meanwhile, the average score after being taught using the Quizizz application was 72.50. Thus, it can be clearly stated that the mean score of post-test is higher than the mean score of pre-test. After being analyzed using paired sample t-test, the results presented that the number of significant values is 0.00 and less than 0.05. (0.000 < 0.05) So, the null hypothesis of this study was rejected. In this study it can be said that the Quizizz application can be used as a teaching media to teach grammar to junior high school students. Then, the Quizizz application is effective towards students' understanding of grammar among the eighth graders at SMPN 1 Sumbergempol.
