Abstract
ABSTRACT The thesis entitled “Multikultural Islamic Boarding School Education in Preventing Radicalism (Study at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung)” was written by Fariza Hani Choirun Nisa', NIM 12201183207, Mashudi Supervisor, M.Pd. I. Keywords: Multikultural Education, Islamic Boarding School, Radicalism. The radicalism movement threatens the sovereignty of the Indonesian nation, in early 2021 there was a suicide bombing at the Makassar cathedral church and an attack on the National Police Headquarters by a woman with the initials ZA, both series of events were acts of terrorism. Although there are still overlapping backgrounds for the emergence of radicalism, broadly speaking, the radicalism movement aims to seek social and political reform through violence. As a country that is formed from various cultures or can be referred to as a pluralistic society, Indonesia applies multikultural education in the goals of national education. Pesantren as an Islamic educational institution has legality in carrying out education. Pesantren is an educational institution that is directly related to the community, making it easier for students to broadcast the knowledge gained from boarding schools. The Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung is a pesantren that implements multikultural education in its profile. Because of this, the researchers conducted a research “Multikultural Education of Islamic Boarding Schools in Preventing Radicalism at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah UIN Tulungagung. The fokus of the research in this study is (1) How is the planning of Islamic boarding school multikultural education in preventing radicalism (Study at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung)?, (2) How is the implementation of Islamic boarding school multikultural education in preventing radicalism (Study on at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung)?, (3) How is the evaluation of the implementation of pesantren multikultural education in preventing radicalism (Studies at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung State Islamic University)?, (4) What are the implications of Islamic boarding school multikultural education in preventing radicalism (Study at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung)?. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Sources of data used are primary and secondary data sources. Primary data sources were obtained through interviews with Mudir, Head of Madin, Musyrifah, Ustadz/Ustadzah and Mahasantri. Meanwhile, secondary data sources are obtained from the documentation of the relevant institutions. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. Furthermore, data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. As for checking the validity of the data using extension of participation, persistence of observation, discussion with friends and triangulation. The results showed that: (1) Planning for multikultural education in the regular madrasah diniyah education program was carried out by formulating RPS. Multikultural education is included in the RPS only on the achievement of learning outcomes, not including indicators of its implementation. However, Ustadz/Ustadzah are given the freedom to use strategies or methods to achieve the formulated multikultural education goals. (2) The implementation of multikultural education at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung is carried out through a learning process in the regular madrasah diniyah education program. The implementation of the regular madrasah diniyah education program is assisted by external institutions which include LP Ma'arif, HIMASAL and JQH. As for each institution, it is given the authority to formulate and determine the strategies or methods used in the implementation of multikultural education. (3) Evaluation of the implementation of madrasah diniyah education is carried out using formative and summative evaluations. However, the evaluation of multikultural education at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung was carried out through observations made by the clerics of each class. The results of the evaluation of the implementation of multikultural education have shown students as follows: have an attitude of tolerance, understand the diversity of cultures, races and religions, and can practice religion in moderation. (4) The implication of implementing multikultural education at the Ma'had Al-Jami'ah Center at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung is to make students who have the potential of local wisdom, tolerance, understand the concept of moderation and have good morals. All of these potentials are the result of implementing the implementation of multikultural education through regular madrasah diniyah education programs as an effort or alternative in preventing radicalism.
