Advisor: Faizatul Istiqomah, M.Ed Keywords: Slang, Ariana Grande’s song, song Slang is a non-formal or casual spoken language that is created and used by people in particular group. Slang was used by youtuber, vlogger and singer. Ariana Grande is one of many singers who used many kinds of slang which have contrast meaning from real life in her song. In this study, the researcher discussed slang language used in Ariana Grande’s song in Dangerous Woman album because song is popular in daily life especially Arina Grande’s song. However, not all people who are listened Ariana Grandes’ song understand what the meaning of slang language that used. Therefore, improving knowledge about slang is important to help the listeners understand what the song talk about. The formulations of research problems are: 1) what are the types of slang words used by Ariana Grande’s in Dangerous Woman album? , 2) what are the meanings of slang words used by Ariana Grande’s in Dangerous Woman album? The purposes of this study are: 1) to find out the types of slang words used by Ariana Grande’s in Dangerous Woman album, 2) to find out the meanings of slang word used by Ariana Grande’s in Dangerous Woman album. The research design of this study is content or document analysis. The researcher chose this design because it studies about recorded material within its own context. The data source of this study is taken from phrases from Ariana Grande’s song in ‘’Dangerous Woman’’ album’s which has been observed by researcher to identify the type of slang words by Allan and Burridge theory. The researcher uses transcript of this song as the main sources. The researcher classify the slang word based on Allan and Burridge’s theory and find the meaning in the Oxford Learner’s Pocket Dictionary, NTC’s Dictionary of American Slang Colloquial Expression and Urban Dictionary on the internet. The results show that from 15 songs have been analyzed, there are 4 types of slangs used by Ariana Grande in Dangerous Woman’’ album. They are imitative, clipping, flippant and fresh and creative slang. In this album there are 29 imitation, 32 clipping, 15 fresh and creative and 3 flippant. The dominant slang is clipping. Clipping types is considered as a new fashion or trend which is used commonly in Ariana Grandes’ songs. Beside using clipping a lot, those three types of slang language are frequently used by Ariana Grande in her song. On the other hand, other types of slang language are less used by Ariana Grande in Dangerous Woman’’ album. Ariana Grande often use slang in her song. She used contemporary words in her song, so many slang words that found. We cannot interpret slang words as what it is because many slang words have more than one definition. So, we have to see the context in interpreting slang language. The slang word has positive and negative meaning depends on the user.
