Abstract

The public has the right to know about information related to various kinds of foodstuffs used in a food product. Industrial foodstuffs on a household scale in circulation are still many that contain harmful chemicals and are not necessarily safe for consumption that generally circulate freely in the community. The public has the right to know about information related to various kinds of foodstuffs used in a food product. This study uses normative juridical research approach. The results of the research can be concluded that the household industry businesses do not include all information related to foodstuffs on the label used, especially for food additives because of the constraints of SPP-PIRT and label settings. Consumers only know the ingredients that are known in general, but not with any mixture of chemicals used and do not know precisely the amount of the mixture of ingredients in the food or beverage consumed. Consumers do not know how the processing and tools used do not necessarily meet hygiene standards.
