Abstract
Feedback is an important aspect of the teaching and learning process. Teacher feedback is closely related to student responses and student achievement to academic development. To know the aim of this research, the researcher shows two research questions: What type of corrective feedback is applied by lecturers during online learning? And How is the students’ opinion about the corrective feedback employed by their lecturer during online learning? This research includes quantitative descriptive research. Survey method is the method used in this research. In collecting data, the researcher used a questionnaire as an instrument. Making a questionnaire using a Likert scale. The sample in this study is postgraduate students of English Education who received academic writing courses in semester 3 at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The researcher took 18 students to be the sample. In analyzing research results, researchers apply editing, coding, scoring, tabulating, data entry, processing, and analysis. In determining the results of this study, the researcher refers to the research question. The first research question is to find out the type of corrective feedback used by lecturers during online learning. From the results of the questionnaire, it is known that the highest item score refers to item 11 regarding explicit correction which shows that there are 14 students (77.8%) who agree that explicit correction is often applied by lecturers during online learning. Besides that, clarification is about 52,9%, Repetition is 50%, Recast is 44,4%, Elicitation is 16,7%, and the last is Metalinguistic which is on 5,6%. Knowing about percentage of corrective feedback’s type, the lowest percentage is Metalinguistic because Metalinguistic need high understanding to know lecturer’s understanding. The second research question is to find out students' opinions about corrective feedback applied by lecturers during online learning. The results of the questionnaire show that corrective feedback from the lecturer can make students creative, improve student references, improve student performance, increase student motivation, increase student scores, students know better where their mistakes are, students feel more confident, and can be applied at the right time. available. However, there is one negative side, namely the lack of clarity in the lecturer's explanation of student errors in detail. but this does not close the benefits of corrective feedback from lecturers. For the next researcher, he or she can do research about students’ opinion on corrective feedback deeply and can dig the explanation about positive and negative opinion.
