Keyword: Idiom expression, song, lyrics, Finneas Baird O’Connell The development of literature is very wide since the development of internet. This condition affect the development of English literature in Indonesia. Song is one kind of short literature which can be enjoyed in a short time. Otherwise, there are some expression in song which cannot be understood if they are translated word by word. One of them is idiomatic expression. Idiomatic expression is a group of words to point to something where the interpretation of figurative and literal contend. Although English and Indonesian has their own idiomatic expression and might have same meaning, but they are different in writing and structure. Thus, this research is based on the understanding of English literature meaning in Indonesia, especially the meaning of idiomatic expression in song. The researcher focused on the types of idioms expression and messages contained in the songs written by Finneas Baird O'Connell. The aims of this research are: 1) To find out the types of idioms found in songs written by Finneas Baird O'Connell's, and 2) To find out the meaning of idiomatic expression found in songs written by Finneas Baird O'Connell songs. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative research design. This approach focused on exploring the language patterns used by Finneas Baird O'Connell. The source of the data in this research was the song lyrics of Finneas Baird O'Connell. In this study, each lyric of each song was analyzed using the parent theory of O'Dell and McCharty (2017). The results of this study indicated that the types of idioms contained in Finneas Baird O'Connell's songs are 7 simile idioms, 13 binomial idioms, 2 idiom proverbs, and 20 clinche and fixed idioms. Meanwhile, the result of the message conveyed by the idiom expression is that idioms are used to convey messages more deeply and emphasize the main idea and make the lyrics that Finneas Baird O'Connell want to convey more expressive and convey to the listener.
