Abstract
The thesis entitled "The Effects of Unemployment, Population, and Human Development Index on Poverty Levels in Districts/Cities of East Java Province in 2017-2021" was written by Duwi Rifka Maharani, NIM 12402193328, Department of Islamic Economics, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business , UIN SATU Tulungagung, adviser Dr. Binti Nur Asiyah, M.Si. This research is motivated by references from previous studies, theories, and identification of problems related to unemployment, population, and the Human Development Index. Poverty in Indonesia is still concentrated on the island of Java, East Java province ranks first in poverty on the island of Java. Poverty is caused by many factors including Unemployment, Total Population, and Human Development Index (IPM). This study aims to 1) examine the significant effect of unemployment on the poverty rate, 2) examine the significant effect of population on the poverty level, 3) examine the significant effect of the human development index on the poverty rate, 4) examine the simultaneous significant effect of unemployment, population, and the human development index on the level of poverty. The research approach used in this study is associative quantitative with panel data linear regression analysis techniques, classical assumptions, hypothesis testing (T test, F test, and determination test Adjusted R-square) using the E-views 12 program. The sampling method uses saturated sampling technique. Using secondary data of the panel data type, namely a combination of time series and cross section. Time series data used data for 2017-2021 and cross section data used unemployment data, population, Human Development Index and poverty rates in 38 Regencies/Cities of East Java Province. The test results of this study indicate that (1) Unemployment has a positive and significant effect on poverty rates in the Regencies/Cities of East Java Province. (2) The total population has a negative and insignificant effect on the level of poverty in the Regency/City of East Java Province. (3) The human development index has a negative and significant effect on the level of poverty in the districts/cities of East Java Province. (4) The variables of unemployment, population and human development index simultaneously have a significant effect on the poverty rate in the Regencies/Cities of East Java Province in 2017-2021, namely 98% and the remaining 2% is explained by other variables outside the variables used.
