Keyword: YouTube video, descriptive text, speaking skill Speaking is one of the skills that is an active way which is the process of speaker and listener do the communication orally. Making communication by using sound and understanding the intention from the speaker are important in this part. To make the students easy to understand and can do the communication, the teacher needs interesting ways to motivate the students. YouTube video is one of the ways that is a media to make students increase their speaking ability. It is hoped to give example of pronunciation, grammar, fluency, and vocabulary to the students in increasing the students’ speaking skill. So, that can make the students interest. The problem of this research is how the significant difference between students’ speaking skill taught by YouTube video and without YouTube video. This research is aimed to find out the effect of YouTube video in student’s speaking skill. In this research, the researcher used quasy-experimental research design to achieve the research objective. The subjects of this research were the first-grade students of SMAN 1 Tulungagung. There were two classes observed for this research, the X-1 as the control group and the X-2 as the experimental group. Different treatments were given to both groups. The experimental group was taught by YouTube video. While the control group was taught by lecturing strategy. There were four meetings for each group including the pre-test and the post-test. The method of collecting data that speaking test. The analysis technique used was SPSS 21.0 especially Independent Sample T-test. Research finding is the result of computation using T-test showed that significance 2-tailed is 0.000. the explanation of the result of significance 2-tailed and significance level said that sig 2 -tailed < sig level (0.000<0.05), so the Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, it is proved that YouTube video is effective to improve the students’ speaking skill.
