S., M.Pd., Keywords: conjunction, lyric of song, song Conjunctions are one of the important aspects in making a sentence. Conjunctions function to connect words or sentences so that a good and understandable sentence is formed. Conjunctions are found in many readings such as newspapers, magazines, novels, textbooks and many more. But there are still many people who don't know well what conjunctions are and what is included in conjunctions. There are several types of conjunctions that people don't know that they are types of conjunctions due to their lack of awareness in encountering these conjunctions. Data in this study was collected using documentation method. The documentation method refers to the method or process of collecting, recording and storing information in writing or in the form of documents. This method is used to record data, facts, events, or other information that is important in various fields, such as research, business, education, and organizations. The main purpose of the documentation method is to maintain accurate and structured records so that information can be accessed easily and used for future purposes. The reason for using this method is because the source of data in this research is writtensources, by reading all reference materials related to this problem, some relevant information will be collected to support this research. This research was conducted to find out the types of conjunctions contained in the lyrics and the use of conjunctions to explain the purpose of Avenged Sevenfold’s song in the album "Nightmare". Theresearch that has been conducted by the researcher shows that there are several conjunctions usedin the lyrics of Avenged Sevenfold songs in the album "Nightmare", namely coordinative conjunctions, and sub-coordinative conjunctions. Furthermore, from the results of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the dominant type of conjunction found in the lyrics of AvengedSevenfold''s song in the album "Nightmare" coordinative conjunction type. From each type of conjunction found, get different results. for coordinate conjunctions get 107 words from five-word types of conjunctions, while sub-coordinate conjunctions get 75 words from twelve�word types of conjunctions from all seven songs on the Nightmare album. From the results obtained, the coordinate conjunction becomes the dominant type of conjunction in the “Nightmare” album. In this research, it has also been explained how the use of conjunctions to explain the purpose of the song lyrics in the Nightmare Album so that readers can fully understand the conflict in the song, and also to make readers realize that the existence of conjunctions in songs or other written sourcesis very important to better understand what they read.
