Abstract

Physical appearance is often used as a determinant of whether or not a person is socially attractive, where each environment has a standard about its ideal body. There are changes experienced by adolescents and these changes are not in accordance with the standards that the environment implements, inviting the environment to give negative comments (body shaming) to them, this affects the body image and self-esteem of teeneger. This research was conducted with the aim of determining the influence of body image on the self-esteem of adolescents who experience body shaming. This research used a quantitative descriptive approach with sampling techniques in the form of purposive sampling where the respondents of these students came from classes X, XI, and XII who attended MA Bahrul Ulum Kepohbaru Bojonegoro and had experienced body shaming. The instruments used in this research are body image scale and self-esteem scale. The data analysis used in this research was a simple linear regression test using SPSS 22 for windows. The results of the hypothesis test conducted showed that it H0 was rejected because of the sig value. obtained by 0,000<0,05 which means that there is an influence of body image on the self-esteem of adolescents who experience body shaming with the regression model used is Y = 24,604 + 1,065x. The amount of body image value in influencing self-esteem variables is 46.2%. Keywords: Body Image, Self-Esteem, Body Shaming
