Abstract

ABSTRACT Khrueawan, Thawitchai, Registered Number 12203173193 “The Efforts of the Thai Students to Get Success in Reading Comprehension in English Department at Universitas Islam Negeri Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulunggagung”. Advisor Prof. Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keyword: The Efforts of the Thai students, get success in reading comprehension. This thesis is about the Efforts of Thai Students to get success in Reading Comprehension in the English Department at the University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulunggagung. The objective of this study was to know the efforts and causes of Thai students to get success in reading comprehension in the English Department. Therefore, this study has the formulation of the problem, among others: What are the Thai students’ efforts to get success in reading comprehension in English Department at Universitas Islam Negeri Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung? and What are the factors causing the Thai student's efforts to get success in reading comprehension in English Department at Universitas Islam Negeri Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung? the researcher used descriptive qualitative research. The data source for this research is 4 Thai students who graduated from Universitas Islam Negeri Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The researcher used an interview format. Data analysis techniques include selecting informants as data sources, collecting data, analyzing data, and making conclusions. This study used data triangulation to check data validity. The researcher found that Thai students' efforts to succeed in reading comprehension in the English Department have three parts. For MT1 and MT2, they attempt to question themselves. For MT3, he makes an effort to capture important points. MT4. uses personal preferences in choosing what to read so that her reading comprehension efforts do not deteriorate. Some factors that make Thai students succeed in reading comprehension in the English Department are Factors that every Thai student has are Motivation for reading to achieve the goal of success in reading comprehension. As for MT1, the environment is another factor. Such as the library, etc. For MT2, his factor is Factors for adequate rest. So that his brain can work fully, and stay focused. For MT3, it is the friendship factor.
