Keyword: code-switching, code-mixing The language used in community life plays a very important role in supporting communication in the community. Likewise, in the process at school, language also has an important role. Communication between students and teachers often uses code switching and code mixing, especially in English classes. The background of students and teachers who have bilingual abilities can affect the use of code switching and code mixing. Symptoms of the use of two languages in communicating in a community in various activities carried out are commonly called language diversity. Language diversity that occurs can be by mixing two languages in one expression called code mixing or by switching the language used or called language transfer. Researcher aim to conduct this research so that it can be an example of teaching code switching and code mixing. In order to improve the ability and knowledge of code switching and code mixing. The research problems in this study are "What are the types of code mix in Merry Riana's YouTube?" And "What are the types of code switching in Merry Riana's YouTube?". The purpose of this research is to find out the types of code mix and code switching from the utterances delivered by Merry Riana and Cinta Laura in the video. The research design of this research is content analysis with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used are (1) Selecting content that matches the criteria of the research title. (2) Watching Merry Riana's YouTube videos that use two languages and there are expressions that experience code mixing and code switching. (3) Making a transcript of the video that has been watched. (4) Identifying expressions, phrases, and sentences containing code-mixing and code-switching as data by reading the transcripts. (5) Grouping the code-mixing and code-switching data. (6) Classifying the data based on the types of code-mixing by Muysken's theory and code-switching by Romaine's theory. The results of this study found that there are three types of code switching and three types of code mixing. There are code mixing containing, insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. There are code switching, tag switching, intra-sentential switching, and inter-sentential switching. It is hoped that this research can add insight for students to understand more about code-mixing and code-switching by looking at the types and examples of code-switching and code-mixing.
