Keywords : Affixes, Word Constructions, @thepoetics posts on Instagram Every language has morphological characteristics. Morphology is the word formation, included the way new words are created in languages. In morphology there are affixes such as affixes which change the grammatical classes and affixes without change the grammatical classes so, this is very important to learned because by understanding and knowing kind of affixes and the word formation the readers can avoid misunderstanding in the use of English and enrich the knowledge about types of affixes. The formulation of the research problems were: 1) What are the types of affixes used in @thepoetics posts on Instagram? 2) How are the word construction and its meaning of affixes word in @thepoetics posts on Instagram? The research design in this research: 1) The research was categorized in descriptive qualitative, it was a library study, and the research design was descriptive content analysis. 2) The data related to the two research question were analyzed by using theories by Lieber (2009) and Fromkin, et al (2014) to analyze the types and the word constructions. The result showed that: 1) There are three kinds of affixes, namely affixes which change the grammatical classes, affixes without change the grammatical classes, and inflectional affixes. 2) The researcher found 79 words belong to word constructions, 47 words are derivations that change grammatical classes involving 26 noun derivation, 10 adjective derivations, 8 adverb derivation, and 3 verb derivation. Furthermore, 12 word are derivation that do not change the grammatical classes involving 4 noun to noun, 1 word of preposition and relational affixes, 6 words of negative affixes, and 1 word of quantitative. Meanwhile, 20 words indicates the types of inflectional affixes, that is 5 words for –ed past tense, 5 words for –ng progressive, 1 word for –en past participle, 2 words for –‘s possessive, 4 words for –er comparative, and 3 words for –est superlative.
