Keywords: Attitude, Literacy, Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence is the idea and creation of computer systems that can carry out activities like speech recognition and language translation that usually require human intelligence. Therefore, the use of Artificial intelligence is popular nowadays especially among English students to help them in the learning process. However, the use of AI has both benefits and challenges. Some previous studies showed that students perceived AI has risk negatively. Beside that by the identification of research gap researcher also found that there was limited study which examine about the literacy and attitude level. Therefore, this research focused on measured the literacy and attitude level of students towards the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing. The formulation of the research problem in this study was: 1. What is the literacy level of students towards the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing? 2. What is the attitude level of students towards the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing? This research design of this study was a quantitative approach. This study used a survey design. The population of this study is English education and English literature students who has used AI in academic writing, whose number is more than 1000 and can be said to be in the infinite population category. In this research, the sample was 124 students. The data were collected by using a questionnaire with purposive sampling technique. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics with the help of SPSS 26. The results of this study showed that attitude variable obtained very high mean score with 3.30 and literacy variable obtained 3.18 mean score which categorized as high category. This means students of the English study program have a high literacy in the use of artificial intelligence and also showed that English study program students have a positive attitude toward the use of artificial intelligence.
