State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Dwi Astuti Wahyu Nurhayati, S.S. M.Pd. Keyword: Sociolinguistics, Language Style, Movie, Barbie (2023) Movie. Language style has an important function in communication. There are many types of language styles where each type of language style has different characteristics. This language style can also be analyzed from various aspects such as in novels, advertisements, newspapers, magazines, or films. Language style always accompanies humans in communication. Therefore, Ducrot & Todorov (1993) state that language styles are several choices that can be used in communication. Language styles also study how to use language in communicating with different expressions and use different language styles so that the information and communication carried out can run well. The formulation of this thesis research question; (1) What are the types of language styles used in the “Barbie” (2023) movie?, (2) What Factors do influence language style in the “Barbie” (2023) movie?, (3) How are the language style deployed by the main character in the “Barbie” (2023) movie?, (4) What are the functions of the language style?. And the objective of this study are (1) To analyze the types of language styles in the "Barbie" (2023) movie, (2) To identify the factors that influence the language style in the "Barbie" (2023) movie, (3) To find out the language style deployed by the main character in the "Barbie" (2023) movie. (4) To find out the functions of using the language style. This research was conducted using a library research design with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique is user documentation in the form of visual material is “Barbie” (2023) movie, and written material is script of “Barbie” (2023) movie. Then the data verification uses triangulation, there are triangulation of methods to find out the topic, data characteristics, and situation of the film. And theoretical triangulation to analyze the results researcher. The researcher found 238 utterances data. The researcher found two types of language styles from four types of language analyzed in the film "Barbie" (2023). There are 69 utterances data from formal style and 169 utterances data from colloquial style. After that, to conclude this study, the researcher found that the use of language style by the main character is caused by social factors, factors such as the age and position of the participants, social status, setting, home and office atmosphere, topic of conversation, and function in sharing information and asking something. In addition, the style of language also has an important role in the film. The style of language in the film is used to increase the appreciation of the audience. The function of the style of language can facilitate the understanding of the audience or the audience of the message conveyed by the speaker or character in the film. With the style of language also displays the storyline in the film. The style of language used by the actor can influence the emotional and cognitive responses of the audience as a result will produce the creation of a certain atmosphere. In addition, the style of language can help convey the moral message in film.
