Abstract
This study aims to find the translation techniques and translation quality that exist in the abstract of the accredited National Journal of Education. the researcher is interested in analyzing this journal abstract because the abstract is an essential part of a journal article which contains a summary of the journal. Therefore, an abstract translation must have appropriate language and be easily understood and read. The researcher chooses to examine both the quality of translation and translation techniques because these two things are interrelated. There are two objectives in this research: first, to find out the translation techniques in the abstract translation of the accredited National Journal of Education; second, to determine the translation quality in the abstract translation of the accredited National Journal of Education. This research is descriptive qualitative research that only focuses on the Abstract Translation of the Accredited National Journal of Education. The documents that are applied as the data source of this research are random journal abstracts from twenty journals in English and Indonesian abstract translations. The data of research question number one are in the form of sentences in the abstract translation The journals used in this research are journals that have been indexed by Sinta 2 and 3 from 2019 to 2023. Meanwhile, the data of research question number two are in the form of sentences from the abstract translation that are taken from the information given by the three raters who played an essential role in providing data about the quality of the translation in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The result of this study shows that, first, there seven translation techniques were used by translators in translating English to Indonesian abstract translation of the accredited National Journal of Education; they are borrowing, calque, establishment equivalence, linguistic amplification, linguistic compression, transposition, and modulation. Then eight translation techniques were used by translators in translating English to Indonesian abstract translation of the accredited National Journal of Education; they are adaptation, borrowing, calque, amplification, establishment equivalence, linguistic amplification, linguistic compression, and modulation. Second, the quality of translation from the 20 abstracts of the accredited National Journal of Education viewed from accuracy, acceptability, and readability categories are various. However, the majority of the journal abstracts fulfill the requirement of being accurate, acceptable, and readable.
