State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah (UIN SATU) Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Sukarsono, M.Pd. Keywords: deixis, movie People watch movie because of the plot of the movie, without seeing the language, whereas language can be useful to understand the context of the movie. Deixis can help people to get the pointing of the movie, so people can easily get the understanding from the context so well. This research purpose is to analyze the deixis used in The Expendables 4 movie. The research problems are: 1) What types of deixis are used in “The Expendables 4” movie? 2) What types of deixis are most frequently used in “The Expendables 4” movie? The design of the research is mix-method approach. Because this research problem number one needs qualitative method and research problem number two needs quantitative method in analyzing the problem. The researcher collects the data by watching the movie more than one time to understand the context, then identifying the deixis type and the most frequently deixis used in the movie, use the script of the movie. The result of the research was founded that the types of deixis in The Expendables 4 movie is 3, there are person deixis, temporal deixis, and spatial deixis. The researcher also found that the most frequently deixis used in the movie is person deixis with its percentage is 93%. ABSTRAK Utami, Putri. Keywords: deiksis, film Banyak orang menonton film karena alur cerita tanpa melihat Bahasa, padahal Bahasa dapat digunakan untuk memahami konteks dari film. Deiksis dapat membantu orang-orang untuk mendapatkan point dari film, jadi orang-orang dapat lebih mudah untuk memahami konteks dari film tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa deiksis yang digunakan di dalam film “The Expendables 4”. Rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Apa tipe-tipe deiksis yang digunakan di dalam film “The Expendables 4”? 2) Tipe deiksis apa yang frekuensinya paling sering digunakan di dalam “The Expendables 4”? Desain dari penelitian ini merupakan penelitian metode campuran. Karena dalam penelitian ini, rumusan masalah yang pertama memerlukan metode kualitatif dan rumusan masalah yang kedua memerlukan metode kuantitatif dalam pemecahan masalah. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan menonton film lebih dari satu kali untuk memahami konteks dari film, kemudian mengidentifikasi tipe deiksis dan deiksis apa yang frekuensinya paling sering digunakan, menggukan naskah dari film. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa tipe-tipe deiksis di film The Expendables 4 ada tiga, yaitu person deixis, temporal deixis, spatial deixis. Peneliti juga menemukan bahwa frekuensi deiksis yang paling sering digunakan di dalam film adalah person deixis dengan presentase 93%.
