Abstract
Synthesis, characterization and adsorption study of zeolite magnetite composite have been conducted. The zeolite magnetite composite was synthesized by coprecipitation method from Fe2+ dan Fe3+ with various effect of contact time toward the crystallinity of the product. This magnetite adsorbent was characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The adsorption study comprised the determination of optimum contact time and adsorption equilibrium. The results showed that zeolite magnetite composite with the best crystallinity and magnetism properties has been successfully synthesized succeeded using coprecipitation method. As for the Ni(II) adsorption by the synthesized composite, the optimum result was obtained after 1-minute of contact time. The adsorbent of zeolite-magnetite composite could be dispersed and removed quickly by external field magnet.
