Abstract

Dissertation with the title " Management of the Development of the Independent Campus Curriculum in Increasing Learning Independence (Mulisite Study at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya and Yudharta Pasuruan University)" was written by Sahri, NIM 1890501220009, with Promoters Prof. Dr. H. Akhyak, M.Ag and Prof. Dr. H. Agus Eko Sujianto, M.M. Keywords: Management, Independent Campus Program, Learning Independence This dissertation research is motivated by the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy in higher education, which is designed to provide practice-based learning experiences to enhance students' independent learning. However, in its implementation, many stakeholders have not fully understood the concept of Kampus Merdeka or how to effectively integrate it into the education system. Additionally, there are still underestimations regarding the benefits of this program, both in terms of academic impact and its influence on students' skill development. The focus of this research question is: 1) How does the curriculum development design of the Merdeka Campus enhance learning independence at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya and Yudharta University Pasuruan? 2) How is the implementation development of the Campus Merdeka Curriculum in enhancing student independence at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya and Yudharta University Pasuruan? 3) How is the evaluation development of the Campus Merdeka Curriculum in enhancing student independence at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya and Yudharta University Pasuruan? This study aimed to describe the management of independent campuses in improving learning independence at di Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya and Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan. This research approach employs a qualitative method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources in this study consist of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Director of Academic Affairs, Head of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program, Deans and Lecturers, and Students. Data analysis follows Miles and Huberman's theory, which involves data reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. The data is analyzed from individual site and cross-site perspectives. The validity of the data is ensured based on several criteria, including credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of this study show that 1) The design of the Independent Campus curriculum applied at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya (UNUSA) and Yudharta Pasuruan University (UYP) is based on the Student-Centered Curriculum, including Curriculum Review, Formulation of Graduate Profiles, formulation and determination of Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) and Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK), Formation of Independent Campus Team, Determination of Independent Campus Curriculum Model and Book Making Independent campus guidelines. 2) The implementation of the Independent Campus Curriculum at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya (UNUSA) and Yudharta Pasuruan University (UYP) shows an approach that not only follows the provisions of regulations from the central government, such as the Independent Campus guidelines from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, but also prioritizes creativity and flexibility in its implementation. These two universities apply the principle of adaptation to local needs and the peculiarities of each university, including human resources, financing, facilities and infrastructure and cooperation in the business world of the fiber industry of university facilities. 3) The evaluation of the Merdeka Campus curriculum at UNUSA and UYP is conducted comprehensively, including student participation, teaching quality, resources, financing, and partnerships, in order to ensure the effectiveness of the program in shaping independent, competent students who are ready to face the job market. This evaluation is key for adapting and continuously improving the program to remain relevant to the actual needs of students and the professional world.
