Abstract

Moral values are an essential aspect of social life that can be learn through various media, including movies. Movies offer an engaging approach to understanding messages, enriching vocabulary, and enhancing viewers' critical thinking skills. Previous studies have analysed moral values in various movies, but no one has explored moral values in the "Wish" movie using Lynda۟and۟Eyre’s۟(1993)۟theory. This research aims to answer the question: "What are the moral values in the 'Wish'? movie" Thus, the main purpose of this research is to explore and identify these moral values. This study employs a qualitative research design with a content analysis approach. Researchers play a key role in data collection and analysis. The research data is in the۟form۟of۟dialogues۟and۟sentences۟taken۟from۟the۟transcript۟of۟the۟"Wish” movie. This study identified 64 data points that contained moral values such as honesty, courage, peaceability, self-reliance/confidence and potential, loyalty and dependability, respect, unselfishness/sensitivity, kindness and friendliness, and justice and mercy. It is grouped into "Value of Being" and "Value of Giving". The value of unselfishness/sensitivity is frequently highlighted. The results of this research are expected to provide significant benefits, such as for teachers, it can be a medium for teaching moral values. Then, to increase the English students’۟interest in learning moral values, enrich their vocabulary, and develop their critical thinking, speaking, and listening skills. For future researchers, this study can be a relevant reference. In addition, readers are expected to gain knowledge from this research.
