Keywords: Code Mixing, Types, Teachers Reason, Students Perceptions. Code mixing is the mix the code between one language to another language in one sentence. The English teachers mix the language from English to Indonesia. The English teachers mixed the language because many students cannot understand the utterances in English. The English teachers have many reasons in using code mixing. Teacher needs strategy to make students interesting about English in teaching and learning process. Code mixing was the way to explain the English lesson maximally. The formulation of the research problems were : (1) What types of code mixing are used by the teachers in English teaching learning process in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung, (2) What reason does the teachers have in using code mixing in English teaching learning process in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung?, and (3) What are the students’ perceptions on code mixing used by the teacher in English teaching and learning process in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung. The aims of the study were : (1) to find out what the types of code mixing that used by the teachers in English teaching learning process in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari (2) to describe what reason of the English teachers in using code mixing in English teaching learning process in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung and, (3) to describe the students’ perceptions on code mixing used by the teachers in English teaching learning process in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmh Tawangsari Tulungagung. The research method of this study: (1) the research design of this study was descriptive research with qualitative approach (2) data source of the research was two English teachers in second grade of MTs Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung and the students. (3) the method of collecting data was observation and interview (4) technique of verification data was triangulation methodologically (5) technique of data analysis was data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The result showed that the researcher found three types of code mixing those were (1) Intra – sentential code mixing (2) Intra – lexical code mixing (3) Involving a change pronunciation. The researcher found the reason why the teachers use code mixing those were (1) to make the students more understand in the lesson in teaching learning process (2) it has some advantages to help the students on improving speaking and listening ability, (3) to make the students use English in the little context such as ask permission, pray and etc (4) more relaxed and habit. And the result for students’ perceptions those were (1) the students feel more understand in material being explained by the teacher (2) make the students helpful to reach the competency (3) students more relaxed in teaching and learning process.
