Keywords: Effectiveness, Vocabulary achievement, Voice of America. Audio visual is one of teaching media which used of material and absorption through sight and listen. Using audio visual as like video, the students can look the sight and hear the voice. The students can get much new vocabulary from the video. Students watch the video and try to identify part of speech of the word. The video which are played is related to the topic of first grade of senior high school. The formulation of the research problem: is using Voice of America (VOA) News to increase students’ vocabulary achievement at MAN 1 Trenggalek?. The aim of this research is to know the effectiveness of Voice of America to increase students’ vocabulary achievement especially for first grade at MAN 1 Trenggalek. The research methods are the research design of this research is Quasi Experimental. The population of this research was all students of first grade at MAN 1 Trenggalek. The sample was X IIS 2 as control group and X IIK 2 as the experiment group. The research instrument is test. The test consist 20 questions. The data analyzed by using T test SPSS program 23 Version. The result showed that the mean of students’ score in vocabulary which taught by using Voice of America (VOA) News was 75.57. The mean of students’ score in vocabulary which taught without using Voice of America (VOA) News was 64.44. the SPSS output suggested that the t-value was 4.280, with df = 69 and the sig. (2-tailed) or p-value is 0.000. The research was one-tailed test so p-Value was divided by two, and the result is 0.000. It meant that the students’ mean of group which taught by using Voice of America (VOA) News is greater than the students’ mean of group which taught without using Voice of America (VOA) News accepted. The conclusion is that the voice of America was effective for teaching vocabulary of first grade at MAN 1 Trenggalek.
