The population is the first grade students of MA Hasanuddin Siraman. The number of the population was 90 students. In taking the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling. XIPS class was chosen as a control group consisted of 30 students and XIPA 1 as an experimental group consisted of 30 students. The data were gathered through test which were delivered into the pre-test and post-test. The data analysis was using Independent Sample t-test by using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) 23.00. The result showed that the students’ mean score in experimental group before being taught using Cooperative Script Technique was 59.67 and the students’ mean score after being taught using Cooperative Script Technique by was 80.00. In the control group also there is improvement mean score from 53.67 became 60.33. However, the improvement in experimental group was higher than control group. In addition, the result of the statistical computation used Independent Sample t-test with SPSS 23.00, showed that the significance value is 0.00. It means that the significance value is smaller than the significance level (0.00 < 0.05). The result of significance value indicates that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means there was a significant effect of using Cooperative Script Technique on students’ achievement in reading comprehension in MA Hasanuddin Siraman. Therefore, the use of Cooperative Script Technique on reading ability of narrative text is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension.
