Keywords: Rhetorical figures, news anchor. Rhetoric is the art of speaking. Rhetorical figure is an expression that uses language in a non-literal way. It focuses on figurative language in the form of word and phrase that is used by people in speech. A news anchor is required to have an amazing mastery of rhetoric. It is related to the success of their program. A news anchor with rhetoric mastery can convey messages well. Therefore, the program will be smooth and enjoyable and make the audiences stay closer and follow the news until the end. The statement of the research problem was: What are rhetorical figures used by Lester Holt as the news anchor in NBC Nightly News Broadcast?. Then, the objective of the research was to reveal the rhetorical figures used by Lester Holt as the news anchor in NBC Nightly News Broadcast. In this research, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach. The sources of the data in this research were a video of a news program broadcasted by an anchorman named Lester Holt and the transcript of the video. This research used document analysis to collect data since the researcher got the data from the transcript of the Lester Holt’s speech. The result of this research showed that from the nineteen types of rhetorical figures proposed by Edward F. McQuarrie and David Glen Mick (1996), there are found five types of rhetorical figures used by Lester Holt as a news anchor. There are rhyme, alliteration, anaphora, ellipsis, and rhetorical questions. From those five data, the types of Rhetorical figures that are often used by the speaker are rhyme and anaphora, which are used five times each.
