Preparation in implementing CTBI, procedures in implementing CTBI, evaluation in implementing CTBI. In teaching English the teacher should use appropriate strategy for students in order to get more English input. Most of student in an elementary school do not have enough time to learn English. It can be seen in curriculum 2013 implemented in Indonesia now in which the students have limit time to learn English material. The different case is student can learn English instruction through content subject material. In that program the students get more English input from various themes such as math, science, civic, and social in which all content are using English instruction. This strategy called content theme-based instruction in which the teacher planned the theme to teach English in the classroom. CTBI has been implemented at Islamic Elementary School Miftahul Huda Nganjuk since 2014 with the aims to improve students’ English Ability. Formulations of the problem in the writing of this thesis are (1) How is the teachers’ preparation in implementing CTBI to teach English at SDI Miftahul Huda Nganjuk? (2) How are the procedures in implementing CTBI to teach English at SDI Miftahul Huda Nganjuk? (3) How is the teachers’ evaluation in implementing CTBI to teach English at SDI Miftahul Huda Nganjuk? The design used in this research was case study. The object is the implementation of CTBI at SDI Miftahul Huda Nganjuk with subject of the research are teachers at SDI Miftahul Huda Nganjuk. The researcher collected the data through interview, observation and documentation. To analyze the data, the researcher used procedures suggested by Spradley (1979). There are four steps in analyzing the research finding: domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, componential analysis, and theme analysis. Preparing lesson plan, teaching media and developing material are needed in the preparation before implementing CTBI. Teaching media used by teachers are real media and visual media such as pictures. The material developed based on the curriculum national by using English instruction. From the material, the teacher improved students’ language skill through delivering the materials. In this process, the teacher needs to insert both English component and English skill in the content material. The procedure in implementing CTBI needs instruction to improve the English skill such listening, speaking, reading and writing. The appropriate strategy to improve English skill included drilling and practices, dictation, summarizing, retell stories, discussion and recitation. Then, it evaluated by teachers through CPT test (Central Progression Test) to evaluate the students’ cognitive and conversation test to evaluate the students’ target language.
