Abstract
Reading is very important the activity which must be done in human especially for students. Reading makes us know the substance of the world such as experience, problem and solution etc. However reading activity is not just reading, but also we must able to understand and catch what read. In era globalization, many students are lazy to read, it is caused what the students don`t have enough vocabulary. thus, they feel difficult to understand meaning from the text. Therefore, teacher as facilitators should able to manage and find or use method which is appropriate in teaching reading comprehension text. Hence, in this research, the researcher used two method STA (student team achievement division) and CIRC Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method in teaching reading process The formulation of the research problems were: 1).How is the student `s score in reading taught by using STAD Method? 2).How is the student `s score in reading taught by using CIRC Method? 3). To what extent STAD and CIRC methods are different? The purpose of this study were to: 1) To know how is the student`s score in reading taught by using STAD.2). To know how is the student`s score in reading taught by using CIRC, 3). To know to what extend STAD and CIRC methods are different Research method : the research design in this study was comparative design with quantitative approach., 2) the population of this research was all students of second year at MTsN Kunir , 3) the sample were VIII.1 class consist of 40 male students 4) the research instrument was test5) the data analysis was using T test. The result showed that the student`s score taught by using STAD (student team achievement division) was 87 while the score taught by using CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method was 81. The T count was 3,956. It was higher than ttable at either 5% or 1% significant level. In the 5% level, the value was 1,990 while in 1% was 2,639. So the value was significant at level 5% or 1%. It can be seen that 1,990 <3,956>2,639. This mean that Ha states that there is significant different score in teaching reading by using STAD (student team achievement division) and CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method at second year students of MTsN Kunir in the academic year 2014/2015 is accepted. Whereas, Ho which states that there is no significant different score in teaching reading by using STAD(student team achievement division) and CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition)method at second year students of MTsN Kunir in the academic year 2014/2015 is rejected. In other word, STAD (student team achievement division) method is better than CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method in teaching reading at junior high school level.
