Abstract

ABSTRACT Zahrotul Jannah M, Laili. Students Registered Number. 12510184010 .2020. Practices of ESP Teaching In English For Cruise Ship Program. Thesis. English Language and Teaching Program School of Graduate Studies. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor Dr. Arina Shofiya, M.Pd and Dr. Susanto. Keyword : Cruise Ship, ESP, ESP Teaching ,Practices, Teaching and Learning Activities That research data in this thesis deals with design on ESP teaching and learning activities English for Cruise Ship students of Job Training of Education Institution of LTE Cruise Ship Pare. In this case such as practices ESP teaching in non formal education. The objective of this study are: (1) find out the design of teaching and learning activities in the term of syllabus, lesson plan, method, technique, material and teaching learning activities, (2)find out the teacher set activities design in ESP to support students in the class. The aim of this research are to describe the design of teaching and learning activities at LTE Cruise Ship Course Pare and the teacher set activities design in ESP to support student in the class. This research uses a descriptive qualitative case study research in which the data are taken from interview, observation. The step to analyze the data are data reduction, data presentation, and data verification or drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, to check the validity of the findings carried out by triangulation. Based on the results of the study, the research findings indicate that the teaching and learning activities of grammar and speaking for English cruise ships in LTE courses are supported by a. syllabus and b. lesson plans although not structurally written, the material is taken for the Gramedia book. c. the method used is a direct or natural method and all the results of research that the design activities at ESP that are used must be in accordance with the analysis of the needs of students who will be able to. In addition, the material presented in ESP must be directly related to the focus of the field they will apply, namely English for Cruises. And the grammar taught is only what is needed in the workforce that they will apply, and in teaching ESP must use the direct method.
