Abstract

This research is motivated by Indonesian people who are well-known as citizens who have a good personality and are also familiar with people who are easy to talk to, humble, and polite. Having a good personality is the result of having a good character building. Character building needs to be taught since they are a child and to realize this attitude, we should introduce any values to the children, especially moral ones. Nowadays, teaching moral values is not only through formal education but also many tools that can be used. One of the tools is a movie. In this research, the researcher was interested in analyzing moral values in the fable movie Maya the Bee because this movie can be watched for all ages, and this movie is interesting to be a reference that contributes to human character building. Furthermore, this movie has a lot of moral values that can be learned and taught to children. Moreover, there is no research about this movie before. The formulation of the research questions of this research are: (1) what are the moral values of the fabled story in “Maya the Bee” movie? (2) What are the Characterizations shown by the main character in “Maya the Bee” movie? The aims of this study are to find out: (1) Moral values of fable story in “Maya the Bee” movie. (2) Characterizations are shown by the main characters in “Maya the Bee” movie. This study was conducted by using content analysis with the library research method. The technique of data collection is note-taking. Data verification of this research used triangulation. The parameter used in analyzing moral values in this research is Indonesian law on Permendikbud No.20 of 2018. The result of this research showed that moral values found in the Maya the bee movie are honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, democrat, curiosity, patriotism, appreciating achievement, friendliness, love peace, social care, and responsibility. The characterizations shown by the main characters in the Maya the Bee movie are honest, curiosity, friendliness, never differentiate friend, care, and creativity. There are so many moral values that can be learned from this movie. This movie also reminds us to be good people from the good characters in the Maya the Bee movie. Besides that, this movie teaches us that bad people will lose and become losers in the future.
