Keywords: strategies, teaching English Currently, the learning system in Indonesia is considered very complicated. The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic has disturbed human activities, especially educational institutions. Due to conditions that make it impossible to carry out direct learning in schools, the government has authorized teachers to be creative in teaching but still applies existing health protocols. The vast territory of Indonesia creates various new strategies that teachers use in teaching and learning English. The researcher tries to investigate the teachers' strategies in teaching English during the COVID-19 pandemic at SMPN 1 Pagerwojo. This is one of the favorite junior high schools in Pagerwojo sub-district which is located on the slopes of the mountains. This location makes students experience several obstacles in participating in online learning. In this case, the teacher is challenged to convey the material properly so that students can keep enthusiastic in study English although in a pandemic situation. Therefore, the researcher should carry out to examine the issue entitled “The Analysis of Teachers’ Strategies in Teaching English during the COVID-19 at SMPN 1 Pagerwojo”. The research problems of the research is “What strategies are implemented by teachers in teaching English during the COVID-19 pandemic at SMPN 1 Pagerwojo?” This study conducted used descriptive qualitative. The technique of data collection is using interviews and observation virtually. Then, the data verification is using triangulation. The subjects of this research were six people. It was consist of three English teachers from grade VII, grade VIII, and grade IX. The results showed there were some strategies used by teachers in teaching English during the COVID-19 pandemic. (1) The use of WhatsApp, (2) The use of video media, (3) The use of audio media, (4) The use of document media, (5) The use of game, (6) Summarizing, (7) Giving pearl wisdom as learning motivation.
