ABSTRACT Puteh, Atina. NIM. 17203163228. 2020. The Role of the Language Environment in the Ability of Speaking English Students Language at MTs Darussalam Kademangan. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. H. Nursamsu, M.Pd. Key Words: Language environment, Roles, Speaking. One of the skills in learning language is speaking skill. With speaking skills students can learn English quickly. The case that occurred at MTs Darussalam Kademangan was that students lacked confidence in practicing speaking skills. In this case, the English teacher plays an important role. The teacher creates a language environment that makes students bold and confident to practice speaking skills. The language environment plays a major role in supporting and encouraging students in the process of learning English. The formulations of the research problems were. 1) What are the Environment role in developing the English-Speaking Ability at Mts Darussalam Kademangan? 2) What are the student‟s activities in the Environment that developed Students ‟English Speaking Ability at MTs Darussalam Kademangan? Research method. 1) research design, this research is a descriptive design with a qualitative approach, 2) type of research, 3) location and time of research, 4) data sources, 5) data collection techniques are observation and interviews, 6) research instruments are observation and interviews, 7) data analysis techniques are data reduction, data display, and data conclusion. This study shows that the role of the English environment in developing students' English language skills is. a) Naturalness of the environment, b) The role of students in communication, c) Availability of concrete references, d) Model of the target language. Some of the English language skills above, it can be concluded that the role of the English Environment at MTs Darussalam Kademangan makes students very active and confident in speaking English to develop student skills. progressively going well to improve students' speaking ability in English.
