Abstract

Keywords : Online Learning, Barriers, Efforts Online learning is a learning process carried out using existing virtual applications. In its practice the students experience various problem during online learning. Online learning also offers positive contribution. The formulation of the problem in this research were "What obstacles do students experience during English online learning at Smpn 1 boyolangu?" and "How are the students’ efforts to overcome their obstacles during online learning?". This study aims to find out the obstacles experienced by students and how these students overcome these obstacles with their efforts. This research used a qualitative approach and the design was descriptive phenomenology. The subjects of this study were categorize high level, standarts level, and low level achiever students of class IXF. Data were collected through interviews. Data analysis was done through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Checking the validity of the data is done using Credibility, Dependability, Transferability, and Confirmability. The results of the study indicated dhowed that (1) The obstacles do students experience during online learning were: a) difficulty in understanding the presented material, b) explanation was not detail, c) lack of interaction with teacher, d) the use of online application do not support a learning process, e) difficulty to cosentrate when learning take place in the noisy situation, f) limitation of internet connection. (2) the students efforts to overcome their obstacles were : a) practicing the material, b) making study group, c) moving in the good place.
