Keywords: Effectiveness, Quizizz, Reading Comprehension Reading is an exercise that is dominated by the eyes and the brain, the eyes receive the text and the brain then has to work on the meaning and message of the text to widen comprehension. The goal of reading is understanding to get simple information from the text. There is a strategy used so that reading comprehension can be achieved, namely by using the quizizz application. With this quizizz app, students can develop their reading comprehension in descriptive texts. Because using the quizizz application can increase student activity in the teaching and learning process and understand reading as a whole about the function, state and impact of reading. Therefore, this application can help increase students' motivation in learning to read descriptive texts. The researcher tries to implement the quizizz application on the reading comprehension of seventh graders at SMPN 2 Ngantru. The formulation of the research problem were: 1) Is the use of quizizz effective for teaching reading in the first grade of SMPN 2 Ngantru? 2) Is there any significant difference with using and without being taught by using quizizz toward reading comprehension of the first grade students at SMPN 2 Ngantru? The research method in this research: 1) the researcher used quantitative approach with experimental study and the design is quasi-experimental, 2) the population of this research were seventh grade students at SMPN 2 Ngantru, 3) the samples were 64 students taken from class VII A as the experimental class and class VII B as the control class, 4) the research instrument used to collect the data was test, 5) researchers used t-test using SPSS program version 26.0 to analyze the data . The results of this study are: 1) there is a difference in scores between the experimental class and the control class, 2) the mean pre-test in the experimental class was 65.31 and the mean post-test was 88.75, the mean pre-test in the control class was 68.12 and the mean post-test was 73.13, 3 ) the result of sig (2-tailed) Independent Sample t-test was 0.045 and it was less than 0.05 (0.045 < 0.05). It can be said that quizizz is effective to improve students' reading comprehension. It can be interpreted that Ha is accepted with a statement that there is a significant difference between students who are taught using quizizz and those who are not taught using quizizz. Meanwhile, H0 is rejected with the statement that there is no significant difference between students who are taught using quizizz and those who are not taught using quizizz. So it can be concluded that there is a significant effect using quizizz toward reading comprehension of the first grade at SMPN 2 Ngantru in 2021/2022.
