Abstract

English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung, Advisor: Arina Shofia M.Pd. Keywords: Teaching of English, Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand. Since English becomes an international language, most of the country in the world takes English as a subject in education curriculum. The system of English teaching learning process in develop country of South East Asian is similar enough especially in Indonesia and Thailand. The writer conducts a study in Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla because she had an experience in practicing teaching there. From here, the writer wants to know how the teaching English process conducted in this school. By knowing the teaching English process from another country, we can use it to be a reference to make a variation of teaching English process in order to get a better education system in our country. The researcher formulated the research questions as follows: (1) What are the teacher’s strategies used in teaching English at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand?(2) What are the media used in teaching English at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand?(3) What evaluation techniques are applied in teaching English at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand? Furthermore, the objectives of this research were (1) to explore the teacher’s strategy in teaching English at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand (2) To explore the media used in teaching English at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand (3) To explore about the evaluations technique applied in teaching English at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand. This research design of this research used descriptive qualitative design. Data source of this research were two English teachers who taught junior and senior high school at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla Thailand. The techniques of data collection of this research were observation, interview and documentation. The researcher found two kinds of teaching strategies were generally used by English teachers at Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla, those were direct teaching and cooperative learning. The media which were used in that school, the researcher found two kinds of media, those were visual media and audio visual media. And the last was about evaluation technique that used by the teachers were test (objective test) and assessment (formative and summative assessment). Based on that conclusion, the researcher suggests (1) Headmaster of Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla had to complete the teaching facilitate to support the English teaching and learning process in the classroom and (2) for the teacher of Thamvitya Mulnity School Songkhla should be creative in designing the appropriate media with the related media.
