Abstract

The Classroom as the place for the teaching process has a great influence on the persistence of the teaching and learning at school. One of the keys to the success of the teaching process is the teacher’s ability to manage the class well. Classroom management can also affect the comfort of the students in the class. Every teacher had their characteristics and habits, and they would bring their habits into the classroom. That way the teacher has their challenges in managing the class. Challenge is different from a problem. The difference is if a problem does not need any effort but a challenge needs an effort to get something. The focues of the study is: (1) How is the classroom management applied by the teachers’ in teaching English at MTsN 1 Trenggalek (2) What are the teachers’ challenges in classroom management in teaching English at MTsN 1 Trenggalek? The purpose of the study is: (1) To analysis how is the classroom management applied by the teachers’ in teaching English at MTsN 1 Trenggalek. (2) To know what are the teachers’ challenges in classroom management in teaching English at MTsN 1 Trenggalek. The research design in this study was qualitative descriptive method. The subjects were taught by three English teachers and six students. This study uses observation sheet, interviews as research instruments and documentation. Data analysis in this research is data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that: (1) Classroom management in teaching English at MTsN 1 Trenggalek is that the teacher applies several aspects such as applying movement, maintaining discipline, giving feedback, and seating arrangements, but the methods taught by some teachers are not the same. (2) Teacher challenges in classroom management. The first is to apply the movement, the teacher makes students not ashamed to ask questions. is to maintain discipline, the teacher must be able to discipline all students inside with the character of each student who is different in each class, making students happy and interested in learning English, without objects with different backgrounds, interests, abilities, and teaching methods. Third is to give feedback, the teacher must ensure that language teaching has been well received by students. Fourth is the seating arrangement, the teacher must arrange the seats that make all students in the class comfortable while studying.
