Learning vocabulary is very important part of learning a language. It means that to improve their English skill, students must master their vocabulary. Vocabulary is a set of words that a person has mastered from a particular language. According to Richard and Renandya (2002) say that vocabulary is a core component of language proficiency and provides much of the basis for well learners speak, listen, and write. In fact, learning vocabulary is not easy, especially in pandemic era. The learning process changes into online learning. It causes the teachers and students must adaption for online learning, where the learning activities turned virtually. In selecting educational sources or prospective teachers, it is important to pay attention to the most effective teaching methods for the self-development of students. Many learning media have been presented, which can be applied by teachers, one of which is game-based learning media, of course it can also be used as a means of conveying material in the learning process. The formulation of the research problem is “is there any significant difference score of vocabulary mastery between students taught by daily quizzes and those taught by using conventional way at the 8th grade of SMPN 3 Kalidawir in academic year 2020/2021?.” Moreover, the purpose of this study was to know whether Quizizz application is effective or not towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the 8th grade of SMPN 3 Kalidawir. This research used quasi experimental method. The population of this research is all of the 8th grade students of SMPN 3 Kalidawir in academic year 2020/2021. From the population, the researcher selected two classes as the samples. They are VIII-B with 30 students as experimental class and VIII-C with 29 students as control class. To collect the data, the researcher used multiple choice tests as the instrument of pre-test and post-test. All of the teaching, treatment and test were administered through online platform. From the analyzing by using SPSS 24.0, The result of post-test from experimental and control class has sig/P-value 0.000 and α= 0.05. It meant that if the significant value is less than 0.05, the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted. So, in conclusion, there is significant different score in vocabulary mastery between students who have been taught by using Quizizz application and those taught by using conventional method.
