Advisor: Dr. Sukarsono, M.Pd. and Dr. Nurul Chojimah, M.Pd Keywords: Virtual Learning, Learning Writing, Online Platform Nowadays, technology plays a critical role in life to keep people connected and assist them in the field without requiring them to leave their homes. Education is one of the closely related fields. During this time, the government is beginning to pay attention to the transition from traditional doctrine to modern doctrine, thus the government seeks in several aspects to implement learning through digital media and technology. Besides, online learning media is already much available now. Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and other platforms could be used to carry out online learning activities. Further, this study was conducted by some research problems regarding related phenomena, a virtual learning in learning writing at sixth semester students of English department UIN tulungagung. Those are 1) How are the applications used by the lecturer to conduct virtual learning in learning Writing at sixth semester students of English Department UIN Tulungagung 2) How is the effect of the virtual learning in learning writing at sixth semester students of English Department UIN Tulungagung. Hence, this study was conducted to find out the application are used by the lecturer to conduct virtual learning in sixth semester students of English Department UIN Tulungagung. As well as it was to find out the effect of virtual learning in sixth semester students of English Department UIN Tulungagung. This study was conducted to understand and explain a social phenomenon through explanatory research. Therefore, the researcher used a qualitative method. The number of the subject is six consisting two senior writing lecturer and four sixth semester students of the English Department of UIN Tulungagung. In-depth interviews strengthened by documentations were used as research tools by researcher. Then, the collected data were analyzed in three steps, which are data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. Further, the data was verified by the Triangulation method. The results of the study showed that, in applying virtual learning, the lecturer used Zoom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp group as the platform for the learning process in writing learning such as paragraph writing, academic writing, creative writing, and seminar thesis on writing at sixth-semester students of theEnglish Department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. With its use in learning, that platform was divided into two parts: synchronous media and asynchronous media. Planning, learning process, and evaluation were used to implement writing learning in virtual learning for sixth-semester students. Further, the virtual learning mostly had the positive impact or effect on students’ learning writing, such as the ease of delivering and receiving the materials, increasing motivation, and writing skills. However, according to the students, not all of the material was effective in terms of supporting and inhibiting factors.
