Speaking English ability is the most measured thing in learning speaking. Since that, communicative performance is the main goal in it. Further, in learning speaking, it is generally accepted that learning strategies play an important role in achieving learning objectives. Hence, the contribution of the teacher through their teaching strategy affected much the success of learning. The formulation of research problems were: 1) what are the strategies implemented by teachers in every activity of teaching speaking in speaking program of Anwarul Haromain Islamic Boarding School? 2) What are the reasons behind the implementation of those each strategy? The purpose of this study were: 1) to know the strategies implemented by teachers in every activity of teaching speaking in speaking program of Anwarul Haromain Islamic Boarding School. 2) To know the reasons behind the implementation of those each strategy. The research design in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of the study were the teachers of language management and two students who join BEST (Badan Eksekutif Santri). Interviews are used as a research tool by the researcher. In this study, the data analysis includes data condensation, data display, and generating and validating conclusions. The research’s data reliability was checked using triangulation by data source and triangulation by method. The result showed that Anwarul Haromain Modern Islamic Boarding School was able to run his speaking program successfully because the teachers understood the urgency of applying each appropriate strategy to their speaking activity. They obligate the speaking English in students’ daily activity, using drilling in Morning Vocabulary to memorize 4-5 vocabularies per-day. They also use discussion and pairing with selected topic in Morning Conversation. They teach grammar to support Students speaking ability, conducting speech not only to improve students’ speaking ability but also to improve the students’ vocabularies, and encouraging the students to always seek the opportunities through an activity named Language Stage. Teachers understand that applying the right strategy are critical since those will influence the design of learning activities.
