English Education Department Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. H. Nursamsu, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. Keywords: students’ difficulties, listening difficulties, listening skill Listening is an important skill to have, it is the one that is used the most in daily life because it is the first stage in the process of receiving new information. In this study, the difficulties of learners' listening comprehension is examined and investigated. The research was conducted at IAIN Tulungagung. The research difficulties are as follows: 1). What are the issues that the learners are encountering with their listening comprehension? 2) What is the students' strategy for managing their listening skill issues in relation to each of the factors? The descriptive research method with a qualitative approach was used in this study. The participants in this study were three students from the English Education Department who were chosen through a questionnaire for the academic year 2018/2019. In-depth interviews were used to gather information. This study's data consists of assertions and descriptions, as well as qualitative data. 1) The researcher collect data through in-depth conversations, 2) the researcher annotates, chooses, and focuses the data by referring to the study problem, 3) the researcher shows the selected data in a narrative or summary form, and 4) the researcher makes conclusions. Students' English education department faced serious issues such as a limited vocabulary, inadequate grammar understanding, unknown topics and new terms, trouble concentrating, nervousness, feeling worried, and the tapes or disks in bad or poor condition. The techniques included using media as a method for understanding and scanning the questions before listening. The study findings revealed that students' listening issues can obstruct their ability to listen effectively. The choose of best strategies that can be reduce the difficulties may be able to assist learners in overcoming some of their obstacles. On the other hand, the futures researcher can conduct new research to develop this research.
