Faculty of Education and Teacher Training. State Islamic University (UIN) Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Hj. Nanik Sri Rahayu, M.Pd. Keyword: Effectiveness, Telegram App, Vocabulary Vocabulary is the collection of words and their meanings that students must understand to communicate with each other. Students who lack of vocabulary are unable to understand others or express their own ideas. This means that vocabulary makes it easy for learners to communicate their ideas both in writing and speaking. So far, Telegram App is believed to be effective in teaching English, especially vocabulary. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the use of the Telegram App has a significant impact on student vocabulary achievement in the second grade at MTsN 2 Tulungagung. The method used in this research is quasi-experiment with the matching pretest-posttest design. The samples of this research were VIII-C as the experimental class (N=32) and VIII-D as the control class (N=31). They were selected using purposive sampling. A multiple-choice test was used as the instrument of the test. Pre-test and post-test data were collected and analyzed in SPSS 20 for Windows using a statistical independent sample T-test. The result of statistical analysis showed that using the Telegram App to teach students vocabulary was effective. This can be known from the results of post-test calculations and the comparison between the experimental class and the control class. The T-test result showed that the significant value was 0.041, which was less than 0.050. The significance value showed that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that the Telegram App had a significant impact on the students’ vocabulary achievement in the second grade of MTsN 2 Tulungagung. The Telegram App can help students develop their vocabulary achievement because there was a significant difference in scores between the students taught with Telegram App and with conventional method. Furthermore, the Telegram App can be implemented as an alternative media for teaching English vocabulary.
