x ABSTRACT Yozitdha, Yuyun. Students Registered Number. 122031831 23. 2022. Teachers’ Strategies in Teaching English Post the Covid-19 Pandemic in MTsNs in Trenggalek. Sarjana Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Teaching Strategy, Teaching English, English Competence Teaching strategy is an important thing in the teaching and learning process. Teaching strategies are the methods, techniques and tactics used by a teacher to teach students in the classroom and serve as a way to achieve certain goals. At present the teaching and learning process in schools has returned to normal after previously implementing online learning for approximately two years due to the Covid-19 case which has changed the entire order of human life, including in the education sector. With this in mind, the researcher is interested in conducting research with the theme of teacher strategies in teaching English after the Covid-19 pandemic in MTsNs in Trenggalek. The purposes of this research are: (1) To describe teacher's strategy in teaching English post the Covid-19 pandemic in MTsNs in Trenggalek. (2) To describe the students' responses toward teachers’ strategies in teaching English post the Covid-19 pandemic. (3) To describe the implication of the teachers’ strategies toward the students’ English competence. The research design in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews to confirm and explore more detailed data related to the problem under study. The researcher interviewed five English teachers and ten students. Data analysis in this study is organizing and familiarizing, coding and reducing, and interpreting and representing. The findings of this study are, first, teachers use four strategies to teach English after the Covid-19 pandemic, namely direct teaching, mastery learning, cooperative learning, and problem-based learning. Second, students gave a positive response to the strategies used by the teacher when teaching English. Third, the application of teaching strategies by the teacher has implications for students' English competence, this competence is the students' ability to master vocab. The conclusion is that teachers use four strategies in teaching English after the Covid 19 pandemic, then get a positive response from their students, and the implementation of these strategies has implications for student English competence. Suggestions for future researchers, hopefully this can be used as a reference so that the results are better than this and can be applied in a wider area.
