Keyword: Social Media, Speaking skills, Student’s Efforts English is the most widely used international language for communication in the fields of technology, science, business and other aspects. This will certainly be achieved if someone has good speaking skills. Good speaking skills can be obtained by utilizing the results of technology, namely social media. In this era, social media is the media most used by students in their daily lives. This allows the use of social media to be an interesting tool in learning English, especially speaking. The purpose of this research is to identify and investigate the strategies used by students to improve their speaking skills through social media, to identify what type of social media is most often used to improve students' speaking skills, as well as to identify the advantages and disadvantages of using social media to learn speaking. The formulation of the problems in this study are: 1) What type of social media is most often used by students to learn English, especially speaking? 2) What are the strategies used by students in utilizing social media to improve their speaking skills? 3) What are the advantages and disadvantages of using social media in learning speaking? The purposes of this study are: 1) To identify the types of social media that are most often used by students to learn English, especially speaking? 2) To find out the strategies used by students in utilizing social media to improve their speaking skills? 3) To identify the advantages and disadvantages of using social media in learning speaking? Researchers used a qualitative descriptive approach with semi-structured interviews as the main method of data collection. The sources from the interview were three seventh semester English education students at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Documentation as a supporting method to support the answers submitted by sources. The data obtained was then analyzed by data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this study show YouTube as the most frequently used type of social media for learning speaking. In addition, there are several strategies used by students in learning speaking using social media, as follow: setting goals, having online partners, habituation, shadowing, and self-talk. There are several advantages in using social media to learn speaking, such as Practical, Sourced from Native English Speakers, Offers a Lot of Content. Meanwhile, the disadvantages of using social media to learn speaking are lots of distractions.
