Abstract
ABSTRACT Muhimmah, Aliyatul. 2022. The Effectiveness of Using Outing Class Strategy Towards Students Writing Ability At MTs Al-Huda Bandung Tulungagung. A Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah University of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Arina Shofiya, M.Pd. Writing is a way of communicating with each other. This means that we can express and share our thoughts, opinions and feelings in the formof written communication. In this circumstance, the teachers is recommended using an appropriate strategy to support learning process of writing skill and made the students more interested with the learning process of writing skill. One of strategies that is recommended to use by teacher is Outing Class Strategy. This research aimed to know the effectiveness of using Outing ClassStrategy towards students writing skill in descriptive text and also to find out if there was any significant different score of the students writing skill in descriptive text between the students taught by using Outing Class Strategy and those taught without using Outing Class Strategy at the seventh grade students’ ofMTs Al-HudaBandung Tulungagung in academic years 2021/2022. The research design was used quasi-experimental research design by using two group experimental class and control class with quantitative approach. The population of this research was all the seventh grade students’ at MTs Al-Huda Bandung Tulungagung in academic years 2021/2022. The sample was VII E as a control class and VII C as an experimental class which the total 33 students. The research instrument was using pre-test and post-test. The data analyzed using IBMSPSS 26.0 version by using Mann-Whitney U test. The finding showed that Outing Class Strategy was effective in teaching writing descrptive text at the seventh grade students’ of MTs Al-Huda Bandung Tulungagung. It could be seen from the result ofpost-test scores in the experimentalclass which was 74,00. While in the control class, the average score of post-test was 65,00. In addition, the significant p-value was smaller than the significant level(0,005<0,05). From the result, it can be concluded that using Outing Class Strategy is effective in teaching writing skill.
