Abstract
Vocabulary is all the words in a language that a person uses, especially for learning foreign language. Achievement is something accomplished, especially by superior ability, an effort, and great courage. Vocabulary achievement is the vocabulary ability that achieved in learning English. To improve vocabulary achievement is one of them through the basics skills of English such as listening. Listening comprehension is understanding what the listener may repeat the sounds without real comprehension. There is a listening comprehension achievement in listening comprehension to measure how deep the students can get the information from what they are listening to. So that, by listening extensively, someone can add more insight into vocabulary knowledge and with as much vocabulary they have, it will also affect their listening comprehension achievement. The formulation of the research problem in this research is: “Is there any significant correlation between students’ vocabulary achievement and their listening comprehension achievement of the third semester students of English education department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah?”. The purpose of this research was: To determine whether there is or not a relationship between vocabulary achievement and their listening comprehension achievement. This research using a quantitative approach with correlational method with the two variables. This research examined the relationship between two variables: independent variable and dependent variable. The type of instrument of this research is vocabulary achievement test and see from the existing score of listening done by the lecturer. The subjects of this research were 40 students of third semester students of English Education Department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah. The findings of this research indicate a positive relationship with significant fair strength between two variables and the calculation result of the correlation coefficient is 0,584. Based on the correlation coefficient calculation, this research is classified as fair correlation, because the correlation coefficient is 0,584. Data analysis through calculations using the Spearman Rho Formula with SPSS 25 version for windows 10, the data shows that the Number Significant (2-tailed) is 0,000 lower than the significant level (0,000 < 0,05) means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and automatically the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The researcher concludes, "There is a positive relationship between students’ vocabulary achievement and their listening comprehension achievement.
