Abstract
This research is motivated by the development of technology that is around us, such as the electronic devices that we usually use. However, most of these electronic devices are foreign products, so that sales are always accompanied by a manual book in an international language, namely English. In this case the researcher tries to analyse what types of imperative sentences are contained in the manual book. The formulations of the problem in writing this thesis are 1. What types of imperative sentences are found in the manual book? 2. How are imperative sentence use in manual book?. The purposes of this research are to find out what types of imperative sentences are contained in the manual book and how these imperative sentences used. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this study is the imperative sentence contained in the manual books as the data source. For the data collection used documentary method and the technique of data analysis used content analysis. The findings show that, in the manual books there are only two types of imperative sentences used, there were instructions and warnings. From the 130 imperative sentences, 107 are imperative sentences in the form of instruction and 23 are imperative sentences in the form of warning.
